Ooh! Ooh! It's here! Another Janiben summary is here! Hurray! xD
I thought this episode was entertaining. Sumire wasn't so bad, but being an American, i can see where she would struggle with things like keigo and proper public transit etiquette. I know i've actually seen fights break out and mess made on trains and buses. I personally just sit still, keep quiet and listen to my music (and maybe snack on occasion). My only issue was how people reacted to her lack of knowledge and usage of things. I mean come on, people, she grew up in Hawaii. She may know some, but she's still learning. I kind of liked her though, and i hope she does well in Japan as a model and a singer.
And Okura? Lord, I don't even know anymore with that kid. -____- How the he-? How you get sick from working your core, dude?! I just- I just can't anymore. *facepalm*
Thank you, milady for your another awesome summary. And yay for me on being the first comment!! xD Have a good one, and i hope work is going well for you!
Even I don't like to talk that loudly on public transit and I don't know if I've ever eaten more than like... candy on a bus to keep from feeling motion sick. Hmm... I can see where you're coming from, but she's not American and that's the difference. A lot of Japanese people can't tell the difference between East Asian people, so if the recognize the facial structure as such, they tend to think, "Japanese!" That's probably why she got yelled at because if they assumed she was totally Japanese, then it looks like she lacks common Japanese sense and has no respect for others even though she was raised in the States and isn't familiar with Japanese culture.
Ohkura is a ball of mystery sometimes. I loooove the fact that none of them baby him about it, though. He's going to be 28 soon, so there's no need to ask if he's okay and needs to sit down. K8 is all, "HAHAHA loser" and crack jokes about his pain.
I always forget that bit. I just assume since she'd grown up in the States that she was a U.S. citizen and that people would be a little more lenient on her. That's how i would treat it (in the beginning) at least. *shrugs* It still bothers me a bit, but at least i understand it a little more.
Okura reminds me of someone i know irl. He fumbles up, and instead of like, "Oh are you ok?" my friends and i are like. "HAHA!! That's what you get!" Meh, he'll be alright though. It's good that no one babies him though. He a grown man. xP
Haha I love Maru's response "Long Time Ago!!" It's fitting XD? Yoko seems a bit out of it for this episode, but I agree with Sumire, that him getting shy/embarrased easily is definitely a charm point lol.
Oh gosh Ohkura - I've never seen him so close to throwing up/crying either... but like K8, I'm still cackling at his pain XD I was so surprised when he let the the rest try the crepes first too, but you can totally see his "sickness" disappear once he had a bite of the crepe lol.
I think the usage of keigo within groups was brought up in an earlier Janiben episode too. I like how K8 don't use keigo with each other (even though Yoko always complains about it lol) because like you said, it eliminates that age divide, or at least minimizes it. It's interesting to know that Nagase (only him?) still uses keigo though, even when they've been members for so long.
Maru's response is fitting! I'm sure he had to study English in high school and that was a loooong time ago. Yoko's shyness is, I think, what a lot of fans like about him. As much as he talks in public, the fact that he's the quietest in the dressing room is totally cute to me.
Yeah, this is the worst I've ever seen Ohkura! I didn't even feel bad for him because it wasn't that much exercise when I keep thinking about how hard their concerts must push them.
I think Yoko probably spoke about keigo within groups because that's something he still picks on to this day. I also like that they don't use keigo, but the younger ones still make sure to refer to the ossans respectfully or with a nickname. I don't think we'll ever hear any of the younger ones say "Subaru" without the -kun, but "Shibuyan" seems to be okay if used once in a while.
I'll read it a.s.a.p. and watch the raw file after.. this ep is really interesting.. this is going to be fun as always. hahaha.. Thanks always for your summaries!!!!!!!..
Yeah, I thought as much that it sounds like she's exaggerating what people can do on public transit in the States. I mean, if everyone danced around and treated public transit like it was their personal house party, nobody would feel safe riding. Granted, she did say "Friday nights" but still, I feel like she's misleading K8. Japanese people also tend to believe a lot of what foreigners say about their home country, so I'm sure there are a whole bunch of Japanese people who think that Americans are crazy party people on public transit.
