Yeah, I was saying to Karen last Tuesday that being able to pull off an ace drumming performance in spite of all the wishy-washing and back-and-forthing and last minute requests makes us pretty officially awesome. (And by "us," I mean you guys. You know - the ones who were actually there.)

Glad the improv show went okay, even if it wasn't completely satisfying. I was about to suggest that you should generally try to feel more positive about your improv abilities, but I'm inclined to say that the balance of positive and negative might almost be a good thing sometimes. The positive motivates you to keep it up, while the negative keeps it all in perspective and reminds you to keep improving. (And improv-ing. How do you write the present participle of "improv", anyway?)

I think if you're already speaking in the context of improv, you can usually just use the verb "play" and sound pretty classy. It's sort of like actors talking about their "craft," but kind of the opposite.

Lookin' good. But...how was it that you came to be taiko-ing in such a place?

I don't really know. Our group leader seems to have some connections that occasionally get us gigs. This one is through some kind of drumming-based event promoter who hired us once before.
