walked from 42nd and 7th to UN building on 42nd and 1st.  stopped along the way at bank for MO and a passport photo place (turns out, i didn't need one of the MO's or the photos yet.  argh!).  the international passport photo guidelines are much different from US.  your face must be 32-36mm in height in the photo, which is a serious close-up.  no ( Read more... )

I am oddly red faced in mine.
'You want to...?'
'No, take it.'
'It is what it is?'
'Take it!'
'Here you go, and thank you for your patience.'

H&M recently (currently?) had a Marimekko print line, I believe?

I tend to think traveling a lot will mean a mother-load at the library, but the timing is always off. And even with a few extra library codes, never enough.

yes, Marimekko! i got a dress and a hat and a shirt. lovely. i also stopped in at Anthropologie today, as they carry Marimekko, but the best dress they had is already going to be a bday gift from the parentals. :) (sigh) i love all sorts of Finnish things. :)

my US passport photo is from high school, and i have about 8 hemp necklaces on, SHORT hair, and my shirt is literally COVERED in MJ Thriller promotional pins i got at a rummage sale. such was my life. it gets the looks at Customs.

and btw, ms. computer-savvy... what laptop do you recommend? i must start budgeting for one. something simple, nothing outrageous. for typing work on the go. no movies or anything. plenty of storage for data.

indeed. and i lived there as a wee tyke. they opened up the gates for dual citizenship again a few years ago (there are periods when they do it, and it's the ONLY chance you get to apply), and i finally did it. down to the wire - deadline is June 2! ha. my brother has had it for a year or so, and when we were travelling last summer, it was so easy for him, between countries.

Speaking of Europe...

Is it hard to travel between countries? I'm thinking of doing a big European excursion this autumn/winter.
