I just met a  woman who lives on the first floor of my building.  really nice, getting married in two weeks.  lives with her fiance/husband, and said, "the building's nice, but the apartments are so small!".  i have the parlor, with the 12' ceilings, so i don't find it that small.  high ceilings make it seem larger ( Read more... )

several studies. basically, about how the male:female ratio is especially high in Australia (used to be 4:1. lower now), and australian men therefore have less respect for women, because of being the majority. and my female australian friends here agree. i only know a few australian men, and they are just dicks in general; not sure if it has anything to do with being australian.

australia also, at the time (when i was in college, 6 years or so ago when i read this) had one of the highest sexual harassment and rape rates in the WORLD.

i found the study interesting because if i were fighting with 3 other people for something/someone, i would do whatever i had to (i.e., be kind, considerate) to win that 1 over.
however, the opposite side is that they say aussie women have then become competitive, and it leads to an almost grovelling effect for the men.

either way, i want no part of sexist opinions. australian or not.

that is definitely a reason to be proud of yourself! my boyfriend and i make a combined total income that is just slightly lower than the income my dad makes on his own... and he pays ALL the bills at his house. (my mom doesn't work) so it's pretty sad that cody and i are struggling to get our finances in order so we can afford our first apartment together. and when i say cody and i, i basically just mean cody.

yeah but you are a few years younger than me, too. i have a few degrees on the wall, and i still make less than my father, who's a college dropout. so there's no balance, man. ha.

i think you need to start setting a certain %age of each paycheck aside for The Move. that's what i had to do. it was a rough budget, but it's what you need to do. i didn't go out to eat for a while, packed my lunch, didnt shop for clothes, etc.
