NaNoWriMo 2014...

I'm not new to Nano, but I've never been able to win before.

Is there anyone on livejournal here who'll be competing? I've only recently returned to Livejournal and I'd really like to connect with some other writers/Nano folk for writing and friendship.

Is there anyone out there? :)

I have done it both ways, but seem to do better if I plan.

My two previous attempts were without much planning, so this year I have opted to plan pretty much as much as I can - obviously I still need to leave room for the creative changes that will come from writing so much so quickly, but hopefully I will have more of a chance at completing this year.

I'm doing it this year for the first time. I've always wanted to, but this year I'm going for it. I've been reading some tips and articles and I think I'm going to plan a little, but mostly wing it. If that doesn't work out, then there's always next year!

Ooh, good luck! I can't really offer you any tips, never having won myself yet, but I hope you enjoy it and manage to get a novel out of it :)

This first year I'm in it for the experience and trying not to be too hard on myself - just see what works and what doesn't. Thanks for the good wishes!

Yup. I'm all set! I've been doing this for a long time.

I'll be there again...I think its my seventh year now...7 wins...though the last two were tough ones (RL stuff got in the way too much).

As for tips...different things work for different folks. Some years I've gone in with only the idea, a few I was a rebel and was finishing works in progress. Last year I did a LOT of planning, because I was writing in a new genre for me, in a futuristic setting, which required a lot of detailed research. This year I'm doing a lot of planning as well, as this book is part of a series, and in it I'm going to address some points that have been hinted at in the previous books...which refer to a history I have to flesh out carefully so it all fits.

I'm participating! :) I'm a long time NaNo participant, lots of wins, several losses. I work better when I loosely plan my stories. I have two ideas I'm torn between this year, still trying to decide.
