For those who are curious, a bureaucrat gets far less back-talk when he wears a necktie. After a bit of experimentation, I have observed that the back-talk decreases even more if the neckwear in question is a bow tie.

Guy Ritchie seems to have created a movie in which the characters with the names Sherlock Holmes and James Watson have precisely no resemblance to their literary counterparts. The list of people who will not watch television shows with me has grown from just beevo to include my mother and one of her friends. They, like he, do not appreciate my rather active watching. Actually she's been on my radar since 1999's Mumford, a movie I'm under the impression no one else has seen. I just wasn't aware until recently that she is also a singer.
