That really is amazing..that she went through medical school while her kids were in middle and high school and they have turned out normal and everything.
I think, for me, it's going to be so rewarding once I get to the stage where I'm no longer "not understanding" or just learning all the time, and I really "get it" and can help people. It's just a long struggle to get there. I'll definately look her up sometime if I know I'll be around there.
Yeah, I am baby crazy right now...I think that's another problem :) hehe
hey natalie, i know i havnt talked to you since i left WVU but heres my 2 cents anyway :)
i think its totally normal to be worried about the future, im comming back to WVU for grad school this fall and having pretty much the same doubts your talking about. as for you personally persuing becomming a doctor i think its a great idea! i was just hospitalized in ruby over the past weekend and the doctors there have the WORST bedside manor EVER, it would be nice to know that there are some nice, caring residents working through the WVU med school program as well.
I'm sorry about your bad experience here though....maybe those people you talked to were way overworked or something, who knows...hard to tell with residents. hehe.
well hopefully i wont need the hospital down there anymore... and if i do i'll probably try mon general.
i think they were thrown into something they werent prepared for. i dont mind being a learning experience for someone, actually that was one of the reasons i chose to go to ruby... just, i could have done without the attitude.
anyway i think you'll be a great doctor :) ... maybe i'll bump into you at panera one day
The wedding turned out perfect...I've started thinking about having kids for some weird reason.
I'm sure those two events are completely unrelated. :-P
it's totally normal to feel that kind of anxiety. and people always say that, within your field, you can find the job that's the right match for you. (can't speak from experience on that one.)
incidentally, I'm glad the wedding went so well! even two crazy moms couldn't screw it up!
See...that's a good idea...I started medical school with the same philosophy myself actually... there is a flaw in it though...
basically, the more work I do now, the way better residency I could get, which would mean less work in the future, better job in the future, getting to pick where and what I want life to be like in a few years, rather than having whatever I got handed over....so that's the logic with working hard right now....plus, even just to pass takes way too mcuh work. I did that with my 6 week Neuro semester so I could concentrate more on the wedding, but it was surprisingly more stressful to always be behind....I dunno, it's a predicament, because I want to be a doctor, but there are certain years in becoming a doctor that suck: first two of med school, first year of residency...those are the ones that people always hate the most I think. I want to do it though, I really do...I'm just scared....I'm a huge pile of chicken shit. haha
in no way are you a huge pile of chicken shit... if you were, you would have never started med school!!!
We (the folks with opinions on LJ can give you opinions until we turn blue in the face, but realistically, you have to do what is best for you and paul. Whatever it is, I hope it makes you happy!
