The Reflection on Airborne School Prior to Jump Week...

I ask everyone to keep me in their prayers because I don't want to break something or "die disgustingly there in public like an alpaca sack full of hairy strawberry ice cream, bleeding, pink toes awry." (Joseph Heller: Catch-22, 176). I'm nervous but excited at the ( Read more... )

Ah, Airborne School. So much fun, brings back memories.

Sgt Airborne: "Pvt Ford, I shouldn't let you go to Jump week since I feel you are going to get yourself killed, but I will let you go. Don't die."

Me: "Roger Sgt. Airborne!!"

Yep, tons of fun. Nothing was as amusing watching these guys the first day. That over-exagerated movements while saying airborne. Most humorous. Glad it was over.

Take care Nate and I agree that people are idiots getting there Cross Rifles tatoo'ed on their body. Thankfully, I am unique enough not to do that.

That's funny. Well, I survived the jumps/PLFs just fine. I don't think I ever want to yell Airborne! again after tomorrow's graduation man. The SGT Airborne's demonstrations and the little clapping moves that they had to do during them were always hilarious.

How are things at Ft. Drum?

Nate-

How entertaining it was to read some of your journal entries. I especially enjoyed this recap of what occured at Airborne. You and I had very similar experiences and I'm glad that I could read what your wrote and remember some of the things we encountered. Glad to hear that you are back home and hopefully enjoying your still pretty new car. Thanks for being an awesome roomate in room 334 in B Co. Barracks. I wish you best of luck in the rest of your ROTC training and it is my hopes that our paths will cross again someday in our military training. Have a stupendous summer and take care.

Your brother in arms,
Luke Jaeger
