Today, at about 5:15pm, I got into a car accident. A woman pulled out from a stop sign and smashed into the side of my van. The driver's side door is dented, there's a little cosmetic damage, and the wheel looks to be quite bent outta shape - with possibly more serious damage to the front alignment and axle and other parts like that. Her Prius ( Read more... )

Man, several years ago I got T-boned in a very similar fashion.
I was fine all the rest of that day, but woke up the next day stiff as a board and struggled with stairs for several days after.

In other words, I hope you actually are ok.

Thanks Chuck - well, I did bump my head, but no harder than I usually do. So that's a little sore, but that's it. I'm fine - my health and well-being is, physically, anyway!

Welcome to my life. If you don't have collision on your van, prepare for a fight. Same thing happened to me, except my truck was totaled. I had no collision, she lied in her statement to her insurance company and made it out that it was my fault (regardless that she was a. ticketed and b. the police report says implicitly that I was *NOT* at fault) so I didn't get a dime. I'm currently seeing a chiropractor for my back issues and am also pursuing a bodily injury claim that will encompass my property damage claim (ie: my wrecked truck).

With all that said... good luck. Be vigilant, get documentation, and if your insurance covers it, get checked out by a doctor to make sure you're ok. Most back/neck issues don't show physical signs until weeks after the accident. <3

Ok, I'll make a doctor's apt just in case. I'm getting the police report tomorrow.

Someone tried to run me over a few years ago while I was on a scooter. I went to the emergency room hours later (only because Brad made me) to get the gravel out of me and for an x-ray, but I'm super stubborn about doctors and never got a follow-up appointment or anything. And now I have no feeling in my right knee! Nerve damage. Go see a doctor! Just in case!
