I've just added 'warriors-for-innocence are facists' to my interests. Think that'll get me in trouble? (Oh yeah, I also am running an LJ archiving program as I type this...hopefully my POS laptop can get through it before it shuts down from its fake overheating problem ( Read more... )

One right-wing nutjob threatened to email their ad sponsors (apparently), and LJ went through and deleted a WHOOOOOOOLE lot of journals, based only on interest keywords like 'rape', 'incest', 'pedophilia', and who knows what else (no one is totally sure). Unfortunately that ended up deleting maybe one real pedophelia community plus a ton of journals of rape survivors (telling their stories), fan fiction writers (writing about illegal acts is not the same as performing said acts), and communities where people discuss literature dealing with illegal acts (like a reading group for the classic novel Lolita).

There was a rumor a couple of days ago that a purge was going to happen, LJ denied it, and then without warning, journals started disappearing. Now a couple of quotes from the LJ people are showing up on tech news sites, still without any official news release on LJ itself. Users found out about it from third parties when their journals were suddenly gone. Needless to say, people are PISSED.

Anyway, it seemed like a good time to archive my journal, in case they decide being Liberal or a hockey fan is immoral next.

Have you joined fandom_counts? The CEO of Six Apart finally posted a "whoopsie, we goofed up heh heh" apology a little bit ago. Such bullshit. I've cancelled my paid accounts.

I just wandered over here while being bored and randomly perusing around my friend's icons and their friends and their friends' friends and oh my heart, your header. I decided it was necessary to my mental health and self-prescribed therapy to friend you. LOL. I go to UNC-Chapel Hill and I came here almost entirely because of the baseball team (well, and the public school in-state tuition, but the baseball team was a major deciding factor). So you can see why you struck me blind.

And already I've established that I'm wildly baseball obsessed and masochistic LOL. Anyway, I sound kind of odd but then most of us do when discussing our largest obsessions (namely a certain sport with certain boys) :-P. Friends?
