So thanks to shaved_ape. I went to The Big Lebowski Quote along event ‘The Dude Abides’ at Prince Charles cinema in London.
Many white Russians were drunk (despite the fact that the bar staff clearly didn’t know how to mix one properly, d’oh) and plenty of great costumes and even a bit of bowling!

Apparently I am so in right now!
Just as I have been doing my entries on Bailey and Jean Shrimpton I find out that there is going to be a film about their relationship. Where his fashion shots were exuberant and sexy, his portraits inclined towards simplicity. He let the subjects personality shine out.
He captured striking images the most famous faces of the 60s, 70s and 90s, especially swinging London.

Fashion
Before Bailey and co came along, fashion photography was sensible and aimed towards the upper classes. Whilst some of his work stayed prim and romantic, most of his work veered to a new young hip side. A naughty side too “I never cared for fashion much, amusing little seams and witty little pleats: it was the girls I liked.”

Some times there is a moment captured in time or an image that stays with us. Even celebs and musicians have been made superstars through an image.

Amy Winehouse tribute
I almost didn’t do this tribute because people have been criticizing the morning of Amy when the events in Norway overshadow it. The tragedy of those lifes taken so young is heart-breaking. Their talents were never realised whereas you could say Amy’s was wasted on drugs.
However, I for one have enough compaction to pay respects all those lives. ( Read more... )
