I so met Vince today. He came to Abu G and came to my work. So I got a pic and an autograph. It was so sweet. His really nice and very tall.

Anyways I leave here in about a week so I'll be in Tx in about 2 weeks. Obviously I am still in Iraq, I got extended. Good news is our replacements are here and I can really go home soon. I hate this place.

Thankfully I was not in Iraq for the 4th. The base had no water for the entire time I was gone. The power was on and off on the 4th. I got a 4 day pass to Qatar with Yeni my battle buddy. It's a base for the troop here to have fun. There's a pool with a Chili's and other fun things to do. I went on a desert Safari. Great fun even riding in SUV's un ( Read more... )

Today they got three mortars inside. Thing
was I was in the porta jon. Since I have been here
awhile one boom doesn't phase me but there were
three....Had to run inside to get my gear on. One hit
the helo pad. There was on helo on the ground and
three trying to land when that happened. So they were
ready to fight back. Didn't last long.

Today was another scare. Around 1030 this morning the was an IED (improvise explosive device) right outside the gate. The gate is right by the JIDC (Joint Interrogation and Debriefing Center).
