I've been talking about making a vlog for the longest time and I'm finally making effort to make that happen. Depending on whether I get that secret job that I won't talk much about, I'll have a reason to make videos. Nothing in Akron is interesting enough to record.

As soon as I get my tax refund check, I'll buy a camera. Yes, another camera.

Have you looked at this handycam? I am getting two next month.

It is really small, lightweight and records in HD and is pretty much perfect for vlogging and making independent, prosumer film. At under 150 dollars, it is also really cheap.

The only thing I don't like it that you have to use the internal mic, so your sound might not be how you want it. But you can get an external microphone and hook it up, probably.

Um...how did you "get your hands" on a copy of FCP? Can you...point me in the right direction? If you get my drift, hahaha.

Also yaaay! Another thing we have in common! I am a filmmaker and have a youtube vlog too. You can find the link at my LJ. I just started doing things for real because all my friends are on youtube, ranting and raving, lol.

well, i actually sell cameras and camcorders at a big blue and yellow electronic store. there was another sony that i considered but i'm kind of a canon snob. :( so i figured i'd just deal with the .mov format.

nope, no option for an external mic on that. most camcorders don't these days. canon and the random panasonic, especially on the DV camcorders, but its been uncommon for the last few years. the internal isn't horrible but just don't go recording in a wind tunnel or anything.

i just downloaded a torrent, haha... i will find a link to one. i used a private tracker that a friend let me borrow his password for. most of them will say they're final cut studio but you'll just get fcp... unless you need motion or whatever else is bundled with that, i can probably find you something.

Hahah I used to be a canon snob, too. I had a Canon XL-1 (sold it to but my plane ticket to Japan, lolsss). Now I can buy two or three sony handy cams, fix up an external boom mic and get multiple shots of the things I want, lol.

Then I can edit in Sony V Pro or FCP.

OMG, if you could find me something interesting, that would be the bees nees!

oh snap, xl- 1, that's crazy. i feel bad that you sold it for your ticket though. but i understand... i get rid of camera equipment from time to time if i really need the money. but either handycam and an external boom mic sounds like a good setup.

nah, i'm not into filmmaking or video editing... just starting out for vlogging purposes. i used to be a photo major...that was my thing. i know a decent amount video only because i have to...but i never got into it until somewhat recently.

i find private trackers useless for urge downloading, as u usually have to go thru a bunch of BS to build up cred (d/l a public torrent, seed it forever...usually they want a 1:10 download to upload ration before u can download ANYTHING private. piratebay and mininova work wonders, and they usually have the same torrent files. and who cares about speed, just leave it on overnight or while getting lunch!

and yeah, i'm thinkin' arbys!

thats why i got it from a private tracker. i usually got mininova or whatever else but i didn't want bs for this... it depends what i'm downloading.
