I always thought they were dating, and then my friends got all abuzz over it. I apparently just know things.

They didn't think they were dating until early this year, I believe, so it all depends on whether you think you can know before the people involved. ;-)

I'm only surprised because I didn't know he was available. Otherwise I would have totally tried to jump him after that talk at MIT last year(?). :P

I don't think I know enough to say. They're both people with public personas that haven't involved partners, so it's hard for me to say what sort of people they tend to go for. They're both creative people, certainly, and they seem to get along well, and they're used to the lifestyles that leave them on the road... there's an age gap, but they both seem rather pragmatic about a lot of life, so I'd assume they are about relationships, as well. So, they get my thumb up, as if that matters. ;-)
