Grad school is hard

I guess right about now is the time to officially start concerning myself with the possibility of failing out of grad school. My grades weren't great first quarter, but were reasonable on a course for someone to make it through. It turns out that every single grade went down this quarter or stayed the same ( Read more... )

Unnn, that's really difficult. But it looks like you already know your options - study really hard and pwn those prelims, and have a contingency plan just in case :/ Good luck.

First, a 3.4 isn't all that different from a 3.5. What's that really, one extra incorrect proof on a test? I'm surprised the class even gives grades that detailed - seems like a recipe for false precision.

Second, you've still got the next quarter to improve those back to the comfortable range.

Third, you're smart enough to make it in grad school. If you work hard, you'll do fine. If not, then there's always being a bum for a couple of years, and that sounds good too.
