Yay! Grad apps are done! I got a decent GRE score! The start of this weekend is very calming knowing those two things are out of the way.

I hate grad school applications!! They should be a little more standardized than they are. Some are 200-300 word statements. Some are anything over 300. Some are anything less than 1000. I can't even just modify a single base one, since a 200-300 one has a totally different feel than something like 800 words. This is annoying!

Well, it is a relief that the darn thing is over, but I didn't really improve much. I left 6 blank, and estimating stupid mistakes on at least 10 of the ones I answered/guessed on, that already brings me down to around a low 700. I was trying to improve by 100 points from my 660 before, and I don't think I am anywhere near that ( Read more... )

These problem sets are driving me out of my mind. All Friday night, I essentially didn't leave my room yesterday. I essentially haven't left my room today. わたしは漢字が嫌いです、でもこの本．．．今分かりました．わたしは読みません。新しい本は難しいです。It gets so confusing with everything mushing together. I finally understand the point of kanji. It actually would be easier to read those dialogs if they were in kanji.

So I looked at Kyoto University's website, and it looks amazing. Their graduate math/physics program is like exactly what I'm looking for. Hmm...could be an interesting graduate school experience.
