He was used to Sho coming over so often now. He didn't let him spend the night--and it wasn't like Sho showed interest in doing that either--and right after work, Sho was always waiting for him. Though Jun vehemently denied it, it was quite obvious that the man in pristine clothes was growing on him too.
"What else can you cook?" Sho peered over at the simmering pot on the stove. Truth was, Jun was nervous to let Sho in his kitchen. For one, the kitchen was where he usually de-stressed, whipping up exotic and undiscovered dishes to express his emotions; it was weird letting an unknown person invade his private space. For another, he was sure that staining those immaculately white clothes was a sin.
"A lot of this and that." with a shrug, Jun stirred at his beef stew, loving the scent that filled the kitchen. "I like to experiment a lot with food. But you should know that."
"Hmm?"
"I thought you said you knew everything about me."
Sho chuckled and Jun anticipated a confession along the lines of "I'm really your stalker. For three years now." The image seemed so wrong in his head, but it was the only plausible thing he can come up with right now.
"But I don't know everything that goes through your head."
"Aren't angels mind readers of something?"
"I think everyone should be granted the privacy in their own heads." At this point, Jun was halfway convinced. Everything he said against this guy will just earn a response that would make him wish he never spoke. "And I don't understand why you keep insisting things about angels when you told me you don't believe me."
"Well maybe I believe." Jun did not give him the satisfaction of meeting Sho's eye while he said that. Instead, he found his ceiling very interesting. "But just a little bit."
"Matsumoto-kun." came Sho's soothing voice.
"Yes?" it was an awkward position, Jun realized. He was too close to Sho and it now that the thought of finding out if angels were indeed tangible entered his head. He was sorely tempted to find out. If he just moved a bit to his left...
"Your stew is slowly burning."
Jun muttered a curse as he noted that most of the liquid in his stew have evaporated and with a quick move, he turned off the fire, and said a soft thanks to Sho.

"Matsumoto-san," Himiko asked in a hushed voice, her eyes following the figure of a coworker passing by. "Are you gay?"
Nothing about this girl could possibly faze Jun anymore. She was asking not for the intention to offend but for the intention to know, Jun knew that much. He replied a calm "No," not even looking up from his monitor.
"Oh. Why are you spending so much time with Sho-kun then?"
"He's my stalker."
"Are you sleeping with him?"
Jun might have to take back the part about Himiko never being able to catch him off guard. This was the question that made Jun's eyes go bulge and his eyebrows go way up.
"Pardon me?" Jun asked a bit hoarsely.
"Well, it was just a thought." the woman replied, flustered with Jun's reaction. "I mean, if you are, there's totally nothing wrong with that."
Sleeping with an angel was wrong on so many levels, Jun can't even begin to explain it.
"I'm not sleeping with him," Jun managed in even tones, his eyes narrowing and his eyebrows furrowing. "Now if you'll excuse me, i have a project site to check up on."

It was suspicious. The day after Jun told Sho that he sort of believed him, his supposed guardian angel disappeared. Maybe this was some sort of test, to see if Jun really believed in Sho. It was quite unexpected after all, since Jun practically told Sho he didn't believe in guardian angels at least five times.
But it was the truth. Jun did believe.
Jun was quite wary, but Sho popping up everywhere he was, was too much of a coincidence. His schedule was erratic at most (if it can even be called a schedule) and it would be humanly impossible to get to that place before Jun, since he optimized his transportation means. That reason wasn't really the only thing that changed Jun's mind. Being too stalker-like wasn't a qualification for a guardian angel.
It was Sho's eyes. They spoke the truth, and that was something Jun saw immediately. It was just hard to believe a man who spoke of angels when you first meet--especially when he's claiming he's the angel. Although even with all that, Jun came to accept that there may be some truth to Sho's words.
He was seldom wrong about these things, but should he be wrong, it wasn't a big deal. It was the first time he has met someone so willing to sacrifice six whole days to wait for him. That, and he secretly enjoyed Sho's company.
--
Jun was quite worried now. After all, he was used to seeing Sho everyday. But for two days now--two whole days of debating whether or not to call the cops--he hasn't seen him. Sho didn't give him any intimate details so Jun was completely helpless here. By the third day, he was panicking. Not openly, because he wasn't the type. His mind was constantly plagued by what-if's and possible courses of action though.
"Have you, by any chance, seen Sho?"
Aiko, who was a petite girl with large doe-like eyes, looked up to him. She had a pen in one hand and a telephone in another, looking completely blank.
"Sho who?"
"Sho. The guy in white, who used to come here all the time?" Jun resisted adding the part that she was shamelessly flirting with him when he was here.
"I'm afraid I don't know who you're talking about."
--
Maybe she really forgot about Sho. For some inexplicable and unbelievable reason, she forgot Sho. Never mind that he was quite hard to forget because he's eccentric and Aiko has asked him out several times (though she was politely turned down) and probably shared more intimate details than Jun could care about. Jun wasn't giving up. There were other people to ask questions to.
But all of them earned the same answer.
"I don't know who you're talking about."
Maybe Jun was going crazy.
--
"Is something wrong, Matsumoto-kun?"
Jun heard the words when his hands were covering his face. He was frankly, in the verge of giving up. Just a little bit more and he might blame his subconcious for conjuring up Sho. Being an engineer, he prioritized logic and being suppressed all the time might have made his imagination go wild at any chance.
"Jun-kun? Are you sick?"
Looking up, Jun spotted his senior by two years, Ninomiya. The guy wasn't really an engineer, more of an adviser to the company's president. Jun owed a lot to him, since it was him who helped Jun out when he was just starting out. That, and Himiko despised him--"He's a two faced person. I don't like him," she said--so she stayed away when Ninomiya was near.
"Ah. Ninomiya-san. I'm all right. Just tired." Jun managed weakly. Sho's absence was slowly gnawing on the edges of his sanity, and Jun was surprised that he let Sho close enough to grant him that authority.
"Maybe you should call it a day. You've had a rough week,"
"Oh no. I'm going to be fine."
"You were always the stubborn one. Get some rest."
They banter on for a bit, but Jun obeyed in the end.
--
It seemed meaningless to head home, since he'll probably just waste time watching TV shows and eating stuff from his fridge. But Jun went straight home anyway. He needed to lie down and think, and afterward take a break from thinking as well.
Nothing can amount to the surprise he got when Jun saw Sho on his door step. Sho hadn't changed since Jun last saw him. Still in white, wih that easy grin on and a welcome home on his lips.
Even though questions came rushing to Jun's head, each claiming attention and thus creating a minor headache, Jun managed a small smile. Sho asked if everything was all right, and Jun thought that of course everything was all right now.
But instead, he says, "I'm just really, really glad you're here."
