Back to the grindstone. School starts in a couple of weeks, and I plan on going back to the Orthodox day school to teach. This time, 4th grade girls! I received my BA in English with a minor in Religious Studies. My intention was always to teach Literature. I grappled with teaching for many years before my degree. I struggled with the fact that I am gay and didn't want to be either teased, disrespected, or even hated by the students and/or parents and administration. Even worse, I didn't want to be fired for being gay. I listened to all that I was feeling and hearing and decided that I don't want to go that avenue. If I do ever teach, I would need to have my Master's and teach at a junior college teaching Literature. I commend you for teaching English and even moreso at an Orthodox yeshiva for girls. I wish you many blessings in this endeavor and pray that you receive some reward and enjoyment in the process. I enjoy reading your posts in your journal and encourage you to continue writing. You are very real! :)

Thanks so much. It's nice to know that you're reading, and I want you to know that you come across as very gentle and accepting. I have people in my life who are both of those things today (husband, therapist, old friends...) but somehow your comments are helpful beyond that. Blessings to you, too!
