first entry, this is so stressful. so most everyone else kinda writes more or less about what's been going on in their lives. my life pretty much consists of work mostly (which i find interesting but no one else would so let's not talk about that), World of Warcraft (but why spend any more time on a computer game than the time actually playing it ( Read more... )

Oh i forgot, you can also join some wonderful lj debating communities much like i have done. ones about theology, politics, sex and rock and roll and so much more. perhaps joining one of those will get your babbling going...or something...

hey =)

you are So welcome to come with me to the church i go to. the preaching makes it worth it. from listening to Brian in the past, I can say that his theology matches very closely with my church's. if your interested, post here or in my journal anytime =)

hmmm, interesting. what church is it? what's the theology like? how does it match bryan's? so far, of the 7 churches we have checked out in the past 2 or 3 mos., we have liked CA, Mosaic, and Lake a lot. we have NOT liked the others AT ALL (but i won't say which ones on lj, haha).

I said my church's theology is close to Bryan's based on how I remember him approaching the text and researching what it meant THEN and how the principals apply NOW, this is just how I remember Bryan. The academic word for this is hermeneutics, which means the way one interprets the Bible. Alot of Christian churches have this statement in their Statements of Faith: The Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct. Faith being WHAT a person believes and Conduct being HOW a person lives their life. Therefore the leadership in a church that believes/practices this won't be saying that Apostolic prohibitions and admonitions don't matter anymore.

Hey it's Chandra!
If it helps at all, I find writing about what I'm reading is always a good place to start - or stuff in the news, or music you like, nostalgic reverie, interactive stuff like questions you have for others, etc. Pleasant to have you here. Tell Bryan I say Good tidings.

hey there! how'd you know it was me? thanks for the advice. the one thing i won't include in my lj is poetry - yick! i'll tell bryan hi.

Yick is right (cf. 80% of my posts). Still, I do think it's a rewarding if unsatisfying learning experience to expose your formulations before the crowd - to see how underappreciative it really is, then revalue these words on solely your own terms. Plus it always feels like a greater commitment to your tenderest thoughts to publicize them.

I vote for a post on the last interesting thing you read. In my book Chandra will always be a smarty.

that reply was crazy fast. and i laugh at myself because i just figured out how you knew it was me - my name is on the freakin journal! ya, i'm such a smarty, right, uh... (but thank you for that.) btw, it's not that i mind YOUR poetry, just that i'm not an artistic person and i don't understand it and any poetry i attempted to come up with would be total crap. but i think it's great that you're talented in that way.

hmmm... the last interesting thing i read. well, i'm reading The Princess Bride right now. awesome book, but purely entertaining not thought provoking. then i'm moving onto An Unstoppable Force. i'll share my thoughts on that when the time comes.
