God what a nightmare! Very scary! What happened? How did it start? Glad you & the hamsters are ok. That stairwell is a death trap. I always found undesireables down at the very bottom smoking as they easily got through the lock of that metal gate. Scared the crap out of me, never knowing who or what you would find when you opened the door. Thankfully you are all safe which is the main thing.

I did solve the problem or the univited guests sadly some of the residents were worse... which is what caused the fire: The annoying little woman from number 8 moved out and just emptied her flat in to the stairwell so somebody obviously thought there were being helpful by burning the rubbish for her :S

I guess you get all sorts but still something like that, putting people's lives in danger what were they thinking!! That's the thing about living in a communal block. I have always had some sort of neighbour trouble everywhere I have lived in tenements...at least we don't get so much trouble living in a main door flat but even a main door is not immune from the passing Ned causing trouble. We have decided the only solution is to find a place with no neighbours so looks like we will have to get a cottage in the middle of nowhere!

We are off to Whitby on Friday too, so hopefully see you guys at some point.
