Chapter 11:

He glanced at the shorter man as they left their friends’ break room, “You look kind of dazed.”

Kame looked over at Jin and mused, “I think that I might’ve just sent Pi to his grave.”

----------------------

“What are you talking about?”

He paused, “Opps…”

Ryo sat up as much as he could without disturbing the younger boy sleeping on his lap, “I’ve seen his photos and none of them are of me sleeping.”

“Did you check the ‘Yummy things’ folder?” A moment later, he realized that he had said something he probably shouldn’t have and clamped his mouth shut with his hand. Widened eyes looked over warily, waiting for the other’s reaction.

There was a long pause.

The NEWS member’s eye twitched before seething, “I knew it wasn’t possible for him to have over seven hundred pictures of food! He’s so dead.”

----------------------

Jin raised a brow, “And who’s going to be killing him?”

“Ryo-chan.”

“Oh,” the elder gave a shrug, “it should be alright then, Pi won’t mind too much.”

He shot the other a funny look before waving it off, “If you say so…”

----------------------

Pi took a peek over the back of the couch and whispered, “Ryo-chan, I’m back…are you awake?”

His curious stare was met with a semi-deadly glare, “Pi, the second Tegoshi wakes up, you are so very dead.”

“Wha-” he was cut off as Ryo made a grab for him, but due to his lightning fast reflexes, instead of getting grabbed, he fell back onto his butt. “Waa, Ryo-chan’s being scary again!”

On his lap, Tegoshi stirred, causing the two to freeze and stare at each other in panic. But the second the youngest member stopped, the two resumed what they were doing, Ryo, frantically trying to grab at the younger man, and Pi, still sitting on the floor laughing.

This time, Tegoshi mumbled something incoherently into the other’s lap, and again, the two froze. Yamapi raised a finger to his lips, “Shh, you might wake him up.”

“I know that,” Ryo hissed back, “I’m going to kill you either way!”

“You’re not supposed to say things like that in front of our child! He’s even more open minded when he’s asleep!”

“I don’t care-wait, what? Our child? He’s not my kid, he’s not your kid either…I think.”

Pi grinned and got up cautiously, mentally preparing himself for the next event, “but he’s as close as it’s going to get, let’s see…I can be Papa-Pi and you can be…” his lips twitched, “Ryo-kaa-chan.”

“Oh, that is it.” Within a second, he had gracefully slipped off the couch and began chasing the laughing Yamapi around the break room.

“Ryo-chan! You’re going to wake Tegoshi up! You’re a terrible mother!”

“Shut up!”

“I love you!”

“I’m still going to kill you!”

“But I love you!”

On the couch, Tegoshi continued soundly sleeping.

-------------------------

“Well I think that practice went rather smoothly, even with Akanishi’s…condition,” Nakamaru proudly stated.

Jin looked over, slightly offended, “you make me sound disabled.”

“…technically, you are-well, I have to get going now, I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”

The five watched as the eldest member turned and marched out of the room before turning back to Jin, whose mouth was open, ready to retort. Ueda laughed, “Nice try, better luck next time. Kame, get him back home safely, with the state he’s in, he might fall down a manhole. See you tomorrow.”

And one by one, they all left, until it was just the two of them left. Kame waved at Koki who had just walked out the door and turned to Jin, “you’re going to be eating flies soon if you don’t close your mouth.”

When he received no reply, he went and pushed the other’s lower jaw upwards and dragged him out of the room by the sleeve.

-------------------------

“What’s wrong with Jin?”

“He just got verbally beaten up by Maru.”

“That’s amazing…”

“Actually, he just ran away before Jin could get the last word.”

“Wow…he must be in shock…”

He nodded halfheartedly in agreement, “Yea…” then he looked up in shock, “Pi?”

The elder singer gave a happy smile, “Yes?”

“You’re alive? And relatively unharmed…”

“Yes I am!”

“How’d you…”

“Well you see, Ryo-chan got my leg and we were on the floor, and he was trying to strangle me when Tegoshi woke up…”

“Oh, that explains everything.”

“Yea, and Tegoshi kept Ryo-chan busy for the rest of the practice and now they’re out shopping, apparently it’s quite therapeutic.”

“I see…” Kame had long figured out that despite how Pi was the most powerful position-wise, and Ryo, impact-wise, it was Tegoshi who actually held the most power. He was the backstage player, able to manipulate almost anyone he wished to, even Ryo wasn’t able to escape from the boy’s whims. One day, the boy will realize what kind of power he has and take advantage of it…he shuddered at the thought.

“I wonder what they’re doing now…Ryo-chan was pretty angry…”

He raised a brow, he didn’t seem angry enough to strangle Pi when they left the room… “What’d you do?”

Yamapi gave a small shrug and laughed, “I implied that he was a woman.”

That must’ve hurt Ryo’s man-pride, bad.

“You’re an idiot…”

“That’s funny, Ryo-chan said something about me being fluent in idiot language.”

“You too?” The two turned to Jin who had snapped out of his daze and cheerfully joined in the conversation, “he’s said that to me before too!”

Pi gave a cheer, “I knew we were best friends for a reason!”

The two exchanged high-fives and grinned at each other.

“We’re so compatible.”

Kame raised a brow, “because you’re both brainless?”

Jin looked over, “no, that’s not true! I have a brain, remember? Tackey said so! It’s a fact!”

----------------------

The elder teen looked around at the juniors sitting around in the room; it was one of those days where they just gathered to have fun, almost like a party, but not quite. He looked around and smiled, he rather liked these juniors, “Alright kiddies let’s play a game. Fact or fiction? UFOs exist.”

There was a debate afterwards as to whether aliens actually existed or not. It was just as he had imagined, it was loud and rowdy and amazingly fun. The game went on for a couple more rounds before Tsubasa looked over and said, “Let’s start a new game.”

If there was one thing he could never do, it was say no to his best friend, “Alright, alright, listen up. Last round! Fact or fiction? Akanishi Jin has a brain.”

There was laughter before one person called out “fiction” and then all the other juniors began yelling out “fiction!”

Tackey grinned and held his hands up, gesturing for silence, “Sorry kiddies, it is actually a fact, people can’t live without brains. Therefore Akanishi does in fact, have a brain.”

He was met with silence and wide, disbelieving eyes. He blinked and leaned over towards his best friend and whispered into the other’s ear, “Why does it feel like I just told them that Santa doesn’t exist?”

Before Tsubasa could answer, one of the juniors who had heard him gave a loud wail, “Santa doesn’t exist!?”

This then caused many of the other juniors to cry in a similar manner. Tackey and Tsubasa stared at each other helplessly before attempting to calm the boys down.

And while they were doing that, somewhere to the side, Jin sat there, hands clamped over Kame’s and Pi’s who were sitting on either sides of him, if he had a third hand, he would’ve held Ryo’s too, but he didn’t, so Pi did it for him. With a grin on his face, he looked at the younger man, “Did you hear that, Kame? It’s a fact.”

----------------------

“Yea, I remember that…I think I just had a flashback actually…”

Jin smiled, “good, then you won’t forget it ever again.”

Pi nodded enthusiastically, “Random flashbacks help confuse the audience!”

With that said, the two began ranting on about random topics in the middle of the hallway, promptly becoming fire hazards. He would’ve joined in, but he had no idea what they were talking about, the conversation was so random it appeared to be a code of some kind. Kame sighed and looked at his watch, wondering how much longer they were going to be off in their little world.

----------------------

Yamapi glanced at the clock on the wall before frowning, “Ah, I better get going! Don’t want Ryo-chan getting back before I do!”

The other two looked over, “Hm? Why?”

The singer gave a warm smile, “Because I want to be able to say ‘okaeri!’ to him in a loud voice when he gets back!”

Jin nodded understandingly, “There’s always a lonely feeling when you go home and say ‘tadaima’ and no one answers you.”

“Exactly! That’s why I mustn’t let Ryo-chan go home to an empty apartment! Bye!”

They watched as he took off running out of the building, the elder smiled, “Pi can be surprisingly cute at times; it makes me feel fluffy all over. Let’s go home hm?”

Much to his surprise, Jin reached over and entwined their fingers together before walking towards the exit, Kame looked down at their hands and with a smile on his face, he nodded, “Yea, let’s go home.”

-------------------------

He looked over at the younger boy with wide, disbelieving eyes, “What? They can do that?”

Tegoshi nodded with a smile on his face as the two walked down the street with bags hanging off their arms, “yep, isn’t that interesting?”

“Yes it is…” Ryo gave a grin, “well, I’m going to be having fun tonight…”

“Nishikido-kun…you shouldn’t be so mean to Yamashita-kun.”

He scoffed and looked away; he didn’t like it when the younger boy referred to him by his last name, “Alright, alright, I’ll stop…just not today.”

“Ryo-tan!”

-------------------------

Later that night, Kame was in the kitchen, cooking while Jin was in the showers. When he came back out, he headed to the kitchen and spotted the other there with his hair tied up in a messy bun with strands of hair sticking out everywhere. “You should have your hair up like that for tomorrow’s photo shoot.”

He looked over, “What?”

“It looks good, I like it.” He wisely decided to leave out the ‘it makes you look like a really hot girl’ part out and stood next to the younger man to help out with dinner.

“…I’ll think about it.”

Jin grinned as he added ingredients to the soup, it was his victory and he knew it.

-------------------------

Ryo stuck his key into the keyhole and jiggled it a bit before the door was unlocked. He stepped into the apartment only to be greeted with a loud “Okaeri, Ryo-chan!” from Pi.

Despite everything, he found himself smiling bashfully at the younger man’s cheerful grin. He averted his gaze downwards, smile never leaving his face, he quietly replied, “Tadaima…”

-------------------------

After dinner and awhile of mindless dawdling, they were lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling. There was a long moment of silence before Ryo began musing about dinner, “That tasted okay I guess…not all that great though.”

“That’s ‘cause I can’t cook as well as you.”

“It can’t be helped; it’s only natural for me to be better than you.”

Yamapi laughed, “That’s why you’d make a good wife.”

“Not a woman.”

“Close enough to it though.”

The argument continued for another five minutes before Ryo threw his hands up and stormed out of the bedroom, announcing that he was going to sleep on the couch.

Suddenly, he remembered what Tegoshi had informed him about earlier and headed back into room. “No wait, since I’m the ‘woman’,” he pointed towards the door, “you go sleep on the couch.”

-------------------------

Meanwhile, the other two were on the couch watching their friends on television shows. By the time they were done, it was well past midnight, Jin frowned, “Crap…have to wake up tomorrow …Kame-”

He looked over at the other who was leaning against his arm only to find him asleep. He must be really worn out…Jin gave a tired smile and gently set the younger man down onto the couch as he got up.

When he turned around and reached down to grab Kame, he found himself hesitating for some reason. Brown eyes blinked, wondering why his arms were being so defiant. After a moment, he finally got them to work again; he scooped the other up easily and headed towards the bedroom.

He’s so light…this feels strangely familiar…

The singer shook his head and mentally chided himself for having such strange thoughts. He set the smaller man down onto the bed and tucked him in before crawling in next to him. Looking down at the other’s sleeping face and smiling; he pulled the other closer to himself and placed a soft kiss on the other’s forehead, “Goodnight, Kame.”

Before he closed his eyes, he looked over at the clock and sighed.

There’s only 22 days left…

Only 22 days left until I’m not me anymore…

Only 22 days left for me to love you…

--------------------
