(First of all, this cover is freaking awesome. If anyone wants it, tell me and I'll upload it for you guys. I cried the first time I heard it, and Takui's voice is just so strong and beautifulSecondly: This is not going to be friends-locked because~ a couple of people actually asked for me to let it remain public for linking purposes. Um.... okay. ( Read more... )

Very straight-to-the-point and well-written. Thanks so much for posting this.

I have nothing to comment here because I don't want to make it seem like I'm counteracting anything, but... hm. This really raised a lot of thoughts and questions of my own. Possible strong topic for a future lj entry of my own, if any. XD

Very nicely put my dear I couldn't agree more. I've met a lot of all types of gay couples from the pretty to the masculine to the down right ugly. I think having done theatre all my life helped me open my eyes to the reality of that stuff before I ever even saw a slash fiction or fanart of the normal jrock/anime pretty boy stuff seen around here.

And I don't know why everyone says "ewwwwww" at the movie. I LOVE that movie. I had to special order it just to get it down here through Suncoast. You should do that movie, it's got such excellent acting in it, despite the lack of an obvious pretty boy for the lead. Oscar was not a pretty man in real life. Most British men back then weren't.... some aren't now. As that can be said for any race, American, Japanese....

Okay, I'm going to go now before I get up any higher on my soap box.

Oh, don't worry--I was planning on doing Wilde for my Brit Lit movie review from the start. I'm not planning on changing it. (And, besides, the movie was supposed to represent Wilde's life and be at least a semi-accurate portrayal.) And my father had to special order it for me from Amazon.com. XD;;

*agrees totally* ♥

Yeah, not every slash pairing can be a bunch of hotties. If it was then YouXCha would be all boring and normal. XD

mmhm. actually, two of my guy friends here are in a relationship and they don't look overly-masculine or overly-feminine or overly-whatever. they just look like two ordinary guys. ^_^

(also the sweetest guys EVER but that's beside the point. :D)

A BIG chunk of my guy friends are gay and they don't look like the stereotype for gay men (if you were going from anime, manga, and J-rock). My gay friends are guys. Normal, dorky gay guys who I adore to pieces.

(no, it's totally the point. ^^;;)

^_^ in my original writing, if my characters are gay, i try to pull away from the falling-sakura-petals-with-angsty-violin-in-background-type of yaoi. of course that usually means said chars are.... completely offbeat... but at least offbeat is fun? ^^;

This got too long, and nothing is relevant, know. *bad conversationalist skills, yo*reality unless there was some act of God on one half (or both).

I don't remember ever accepting fanfiction couples as being representations of life. I fuse my characters on personality over looks, though some of them still wouldn't be compatable for long in There was one fic I was working on (which never got published...>>;; thank God?) were I had Ryuuji paired with this OC who the Ryou directed narrative made a point of mentioning as a chubby (♥ the word, yo) and so forth, comparing him to Ryuuji for the sake of description and a shameless excuse for a paragraph. ^~

But yeah, I just remembered that...I gotta work on that fic again sometime. ^^'' *should stop putting spontaneous thoughts in replies, then they may be shorter*

Anyway, back to your initial post; I agree. To me at least, manga, anime, j-rockers, and what have you are art and idealization. I do not associate them with reality, but I am now questioning these people around me...>>;; (You ( ... )

I like the ranty =D But I love ugly men together too, so for once I don't have to worry about a rant being directed at me XD

So instead I'll just say I hate you for seeing Wilde because I haven't yet >o< (and much love for Stephen Fry, even if he's not pretty =3 I've always loved him and his smartness.. mmm big sexy brain)
