Man. My boss's boss is going to be the new Secretary of Energy. I am so stoked that the Secretary of Energy will know more quantum mechanics than I do. Let alone simple things like corn ethanol being complete bullshit.

Of course of course. No arguments there. And Obama was one influence in that direction. Rational energy policy is a small sacrifice to make to win the Iowa caucus, I suppose.

Steve Chu is very good at PR and pro-renewables, and he is a Nobel-winning scientist? He's perfect for this. Never mind that he is also supposedly a huge jerk. :)

nth-ing the awesomeness of this pick. I mean, he's got enough administrator experience to handle a messy bureaucracy and he's going the science know-how to call bullshit on the people who will try to bullshit him. Plus, to my knowledge at least, he's not hugely invested in one type of renewable so maybe he'll actually move forward with the best plans instead of sticking to a bad pet idea.

Really? We should chat about this. I've been pretty happy with his economic team. The Clinton pick I found inoffensive. On the other hand, Biden, Holder, and Emanuel curdled in my stomach a bit.

Well I can't stand Hilary Clinton, so that one sticks out to me. The others I probably don't know enough about to say whether I approve or disapprove, though I'm sure if you like the economic team I probably would too.
