The last time I drew something humanoid was back in early 2006. It was
this gift picture of
honsu's Gaia characters. And at that time, it had been a year between since I had picked up a pencil. I seriously quit drawing back in late 2004/early 2005.
When I got my wacam tablet I started up with digital graphics and I slowly quit drawing altogether. I was more interested in web design and coding. Then, I got caught up in designing LJ layouts for a year or two. In the end I burned out on everything.
During the last six/seven or so months I haven't done anything productive. Not a thing. I always regretted not keeping up with drawing. (well, i doodle flowers and animals but nothing serious) I keep thinking about how much I could have improved over the years.
My son has picked up drawing and I guess for a ten year old he's doing okay. He draws me some really funny stuff. A couple days ago I was trying to explain to Damian how to draw a profile so that the forehead, nose, lips and chin line up correctly and I wound up drawing a couple profiles on notebook paper. D: I tried to elaborate further by drawing a torso ne one but, without a reference I couldn't do it anymore. ^^; Perspective and proportions were off. Dx I'll show you so that you don't think I'm being modest:
Overall take on what I drew.

Crap!! Look at that body! o= It's soo off. Haha. I like him though so for now I'm keeping him in mind for possible slight redesign and further character development. I refer to him as the grandson.

As for the grandparents/guardians of the boy... well, there's nothing much to say other than I've never drawn old people before. I wanted to try drawing different ages and that's how the old man came to be and then Maiku prompted me to draw the old woman. For a first attempt I think they're pretty damn awesome. :D

Anyway, point of the story is that I really enjoyed drawing these crappy sketches and I think I'm going to pick up the hobby again. I've always been shy with my stuff and worried what other people would think so I've never been one to scan and post what I draw. Also being surrounded by so many talented artists is a little intimidating but hopefully I'll learn to deal and won't burn too many people's eyes. Haha.
I'm planning on making a worthwhile update about real stuffs later when I have more time. Hopefully I'll get around to it.
