Wow, I'm bad at this "posting in blog" thing. Blame facebook and its seductively easy "status update"
I'm engaged. Entering what will hopefully be the last year of grad school. Going to be in New Hampshire, boston, Napa, Seattle-ish this summer, and more boston and australia in the fall.

I just went to a "conversation" with AMEX CEO ken Chenault. During the 1.5 hour talk, he made more than I make in a year (if I dial him out to a 40 hour work week, with a total of 10 days off a year). -

What I learned today
Today I learned that drinking coke after eating garlic-laced food is a very bad idea. I may have made it too garlicy, but seriously, yuck.
also, I learned that 2 minutes is not quite long enough for 6:1 HF solution to etch through 400 nm of silicon oxide. This discovery, unfortunately, ate up about two weeks of work. -

flew down to state college, PA today to visit jamie and brett and colin. It was a good flight (1.5 hours flying vs 3.5 hrs driving each way), and it was great catching up with the mudd crew. There are times when I wish I could bring some of the chemistry / nanofab equipment home with me. Today, when anya was cleaning the litterbox, I (well, she) could have really used a laminar flow fume hood. Cleaning dishes would be so much easier with acetone and IPA spray bottles. incredibly fun night - I talked with an old friend from college for about two hours on the phone, and I had scarcely hung up with her than an even older friend from high school, who I haven't seen for maybe 5 years called out of the blue. So I've been using online maps (google and yahoo) to plan a trip this summer from ithaca to Bozeman, mt. And two features would be really handy. The first would be the ability to specify your route via intermediate points. Example is that the shortest route passes through several major cities, with lovely traffic.
