I found that I had a decent bit of success rolling straight at it and slightly sidewards when it charged (as long as it wasn't a "Head frill to the ground" charge), giving me slightly more time to try and hit it in the back. Wasn't enough though :(

I'll give the trapping part a go, I tried using tainted meat last time (or whatever raw meat and parashroom is) but he wouldn't go for it. Time to dig some other traps & tranq bombs out of storage :)

Alas I'm yet to find a single weapon with elemental damage on it, nor anything with enough of an Awaken skill to cause a neutral one to become elemental :(

Hrm. Looking at the wiki, maybe I should just create a Ludroth hammer. I should either have or be able to farm the materials for one, and that's water damage.
Plus, half the time I end up belting the mob in the face anyway, might as well have a chance to stun when I do :P

The Golem one is pretty fun, but Witch Hunt, while giving a couple of important plot points, is pretty much regarded to be little more than a paid-for teaser for the series.

Fingers crossed DA2 DLC is more along the lines of ME2 DLC.

I know you're only really into hammers, but there is a wonderful Water Lance which is pretty easy to get from a random online mission where you need to kill 20 sharks while wearing no armour. I'm still using that lance, maybe with one upgrade and the last thing I soloed was Rathalos, which is I think 2 tiers of content above Barroth. If you want some online help, bug me next time you see me in WoW to go play some tri and I'll see what I can do =).

It's a fun one when the Royal Ludroth comes in after the 10th Shark.

Of course, you probably also have DA2 by now, but it's still an idea.

Nah, my DA2 hasn't arrived yet.
I've actually mostly been using switch axes, I just swapped for Barroth so I could get a fire weapon. Admittedly I haven't tried lances yet (in fact I've only really used axes and hammers).
I tried going online. Got nowhere. Couldn't figure out how to effectively communicate, and even when I got into a room with other hunters I couldn't join their quests because the notice board said they "weren't still allowing signups" or something. Also for some reason I expected some way to be able get get/trade materials easier, kinda wrong there.

You can Solo online, which is what I did, but of course, it's harder.

That would explain why the Great Jaggi I soloed online actually took effort to take down...
