I am getting really annoyed/upset by the fact that one of my professors is accusing me of plagiarism when I freaken didn't. I have 10 in text citations and a works cited page already and when I explained everything to him he understood exactly why I did what I did, and used the words I did, perfectly. Yet, he still is considering submitting the ( Read more... )

So wait - he's accusing you of plagiarizing, but he isn't able to say what you plagiarized?

Someone need a good smack with the logic stick.

yeah! like he has a vague "idea" that I plagiarized (or so he thinks)

but he only gave (as proof) the fact that the second portion of my paper seemed to use more sophisticated words then the first (I wrote it at two different times, and I occasionally use a thesaurus when I get sick of using the same words later in a paper) and the fact that it was disjointed (which I don't personally think it was. I just don't think he was reading very carefully)

my dad is considering filing a lawsuit depending on what he decides to do because he is accusing me without any evidence. He'd be making me go in front of a jury with the assumption that I am guilty from the start- but without any proof of how

The problem is I need to get at least a D on this paper to get a C in the class. He'll fail me for sure if we sue him. My dad isn't that quick to sue either. He didn't even sue when an idiot football jock caused 1,300 dollars worth of damage to my brothers car during dart wars and refused to pay at first.

Though I dunno. I wonder if you could make a case out of a professor failing a student out of dislike/circumstance?

i think technically a professor can legally fail you for anything he damn well pleases, you'd have to take that case to his superiors within the university... because they could kick his ass for being unfair... but i'm not sure.

it's kinda really helpful that your dad's a lawyer though. Look on the bright side, you'd be having a much worse time of it if you didn't have someone to look out for you like that. I hope everything works out okay in the end.

That super seriously sucks. What an asshat.
