Time for a nap

Got grilled today at 9:00am by a panel of professors to determine if I am capable of doing the more advanced research MA. This whole experience was made much more unpleasant by the fact that I had to wake up at 6:30 to get there on time, and by the fact that one of the professors was only there to ask "nasty questions", as he put it. Like when I ( Read more... )

When I was studying in Northern Ireland (5 months) I was having trouble to talk in Dutch, just because there was no dutchspeaking soul around, so I just was used speaking English. Every time that I had to talk dutch, some English words would pop up in between, or I even had to search for the right word/expression... That was all very frustrating, but funny as well :p

I remember when I had just returned from the States after living there for half a year, I would start my sentences in Dutcb but if an english word would pop up or something english was on tv or the radio, I'd switch in the middle of my sentence to english without even noticing it! Fun but annoying sometimes ;)

hahaha, yeps, or when you want to tell about some situation that happened there, didn't you switch to English because, I don't know, it happened there, so the brain wants it to be told in English? Well, that happened to me as well :p

Damn Dutch weather indeed! I hate it when it pours down just when I am ready to head back home from university.. Allthough, it's better to get soaking wet on the way home then on the way to class, I suppose heh. The stormy wind makes it even worse though, blah! Gimme my nice sunny summer back (oh right, I spent the summer not here but in AL ;))

Pancakes with cheese are good, allthough I am not a fan of the bacon on there as well. Do you like the Dutch pancakes?

Btw, I do not know what your uni schedule is, but perhaps we could hook up some day:) I'd like that. Plus I'd like to exchange ideas, thoughts and experiences on the whole moving-to-the-other-end-of-the-ocean thing.. :)

You're not the only one, hehe! :) Actually, by tomorrow I will hopefully know exactly when I need to be where-- it all depends on whether I get accepted into the research program or not. But I will let you know, as I am really looking forward to meeting up with you! :)

I have a maandnetkaart and want to get my money's worth out of it, so I am more than happy to take the train to your town, or any other place you feel like meeting, for that matter! :)
