Apparently, Stephi is being taught to rap in music class at school. She said, "It's really bad. There's these old white people who write our music book, -forcing- us to learn these raps. And there's a picture of a bunny, with one ear up and one down, like, representing messed up hair... But don't worry," she adds, "there's no 'homie g' or 'wtf'

I remember in first grade we had a "Composer of the Month" in music class. Every month a different composer - we spent the month playing simplified pieces and compositions and talking about history and doing all kinds of standard school stuff.

Then, one day, I came to school to find an album cover in the "Composer of the Month" spot on the wall. It was Michael Jackson's Thriller.

Until this day, I have thought this to be the most disturbing corruption of the public school musical education curriculum. So a hearty thank you to my beloved daughter for taking that crown for her own memories, and motivating me even further to find some way to afford private high school for her... and every other human being on the planet. :)

Ah, come on Paul, they're building her character. :)
Seriously, though - this is why school is only -part- of a child's education.

Still not sure how LJ ate my cookie there, but here I am, unmasked!

haha, character indeed. I picture the character they're trying to build today as having a reflective hat and a neon scarf...

But yes indeed, a mere fraction of education as a whole. Maybe some golf lessons would balance this out.... :D

I have vivid memories of having to dress up as a trash can and rap about littering, in middle school I believe. That explains ALOT.
