I think I'm going to try retail again as far as looking for a part-time job.  It's what I have experience in, unfortunately, and seems to be the only thing that's hiring now. I know the pay is crap, but well, I'm broke ( Read more... )

Waitressing would probably be pretty easy to learn quickly! The fact you have tonnes of customer service experience under your belt would help your resume.
Besides that...would working in a movie rental store tempt you? That's all I can think of! Good idea about Toys 'R Us! As for pet stores, I can tell you horror stories of them pressuring people to buy crap food so as long as you can find one that isn't stupid like that [a big chain like Pet Smart or Pet Crazy if you guys have that would likely be fine!] Good luck!

I'm getting desperate enough to attempt retail as well. I'd totally bartend if it didn't mean always having to work weekend nights and I think it'd be waaay to difficult to hear people's drink orders. :[

Oh yeah...I didn't think of a movie rental store! That would be cool! Unfortunately, the closest Blockbuster is near my former St. Mikes client's home...like practically across the street...but there is a Hollywood Video I could apply to in another area.

We have PetSmart and PetCo...do you know about them at all?

I wish I had the bartending skills to get that kind of gig! Do you have a hard time hearing in noisy situations?

Last Christmas my sister had a part time job at a men's suit store, i think it was Tip Top Tailors. Unless you're into cross-dressing, it could be a good fit ;)

What about a grocery store like Whole Foods or something? Grocery stores normally pay decent and don't have their own credit cards.

We don't have Whole Foods here :(

But I will check out the local grocery stores! Thanks!

i have a couple of friends who liked working at toys r us. another thought is a grocery store - one of my friends works at one and loves that she gets an employee discount because food isnt a temptation type purchase. you NEED to eat.
