Hooray for uninformed decisions!

I always make an effort to try and really understand what I am voting on before a poll. I also always end up feeling even more like I have no idea what or who I'm actually casting a vote for as I read. And I know that the vast majority of people don't even bother to do anything more than read the signs and bumper stickers plastered all over the ( Read more... )

Ok, first off... OMG He speaks! (or rather writes, but whatever)

I share your frustration with the whole political add thing. I have taken to ignoring all the political adds and hanging up on their minion phone solicitors. I'll make my own decisions, thank you very much. And the 14 pages for a single proposition is why I almost always vote NO on those things. There is always a secondary, and tertiary, etc piece in there. Some piggybacking issue that no one is talking about. Sure, the propositions in question will do something resembling the politicians claims, but they usually include something I don’t want buried ten pages into the thing.

I’ll vote this evening after work, but I’ll be so glad to be rid of the misinformation once it is all over.

i feel pretty much the same. fortunately i tend to agree with my much more politically active friend neutron-x on most stuff, so i leaned towards his decisions when in doubt. i also had a fairly good discussion going about the governor's race in my lj yesterday that you might want to read. i actually wound up voting for angelides, which i wasn't planning on.

frankly though, i feel like none of it matters all that much except for voting for democratic senate and house candidates, and voting against parental consent for abortions.
