Summer has come to McMurdo, and with it, Daisy Picking Season. Seeing as there is no species of daisy native to Antarctica's volcanic-ash-and-permafrost soil, "daisy picking" is a euphemism for trash collecting. Specifically trash that, having frozen into the ice over the past winter, now begins to surface all around town during this short period ( Read more... ) -
