I can maintain my silence no longer. To be fair, I guess I haven't been all that silent about it, but still. We're going to work through this. I want to precede this by saying that there are people I know who are realistic and take this for what it is, and I want them to know I respect that. This is not for them. Now, here we go.

With all due respect Dan, you are basing your opinion off of what it looks like on paper. I don't know who claims BM to be a "utopia" or "self-sustaining" because that's not what it is. Look, basically the best way to describe it is for one week, I can go somewhere that is like no other place on earth. You just sound so surly and bitter toward something that you've never been to. Yes, it is a vacation- our camp even comes out and simply calls it that. But, there's a reason why Kelly and I make it top priority to go every year now- there's something there that you can't get anywhere else. Maybe that a sad statement on how we act in real life- that we need to escape to a desert far far away so we can all act nice to each other. But, I know how the whole scene can come off, so I don't talk about it anymore. It's just my thing; it just happens to be a thing that I think everyone can get a really unique and values-changing experience from.

Sorry the Burners angered you and I'll try not to claim it as the messiah.

See, I was kind of talking about you guys at the start of this thing. I'm sure it's fun and I'm sure it's like no place on Earth. I agree, it shouldn't be, which is part of the point, but yours is not a perspective I'm really disagreeing with. You acknowledge it's a vacation. This wasn't really aimed at you and yours, and I'm sorry if it came off that way. Yes, I'm sort of bitter about it the same way I'm bitter at religion. I don't hate the game, I hate many of the players.

Is this Kelly? I had not, until now, known your LJ. I'd like to say the same thing I said to Lars. I'm sure it's a lot of fun, and I'm not really trying to drag that element of it down. As I said, I would encourage people to go and have fun. I'm just sick of people telling me it's something it's not, because it definitively cannot be.
