So I have not run since Monday, its now Friday. I have been trying to give my left knee a rest, some days the pain is worse than others, but I must have either tweeked it really hard, or done something worse. It hurts when I walk, or just barely move it while sitting at my desk ( Read more... )

My Mom has now had both knees replaced basically, so unfortunately, I might not be able to dodge that genetic bullet:(

I'm just pissed as all hell I can't complete it. I was over halfway through it and was really enjoying running for the first time in my life.

I'm sorry to hear this - I realize it must be a huge bummer. But taking care of yourself is the most important, and I hope your knee improves soon & doesn't get worse.

Yeah. What she said.

I hope you find an activity to use your enthusiasm of running toward. Ellipticals aren't that bad!

I agree wholeheartedly. You tried. You tried hard. The main thing now is to let yourself heal - and see that doc if you need to. Trust me. It's better to get fixed up earlier than later. See that userpic of mine? Metal joints are what you get when you put it off.

And go to the elliptical and be proud that you're doing that. It is by no means a negative reflection of your perseverence if you listen to your body and take care of it. It *is* bad to hear your body and then ignore what it's saying to you.

I hope you heal fast and well, and do a 5K on the elliptical instead!
