Back story: After performing several recon visits, I had enough information to make a solo attempt on this Kirkbride.

In the dead of night, I left home to make the commute to the site. At 4am when I arrived in the neighborhood near the Kirk, I saw a group of people moving stealthily, hugging the shadows. Tripods and camera bags pegged them as a ( Read more... )

I have to give you credit. You are sure one brave soul. But thanks to people like you, those of us not fortunate to live nearby, or have cajones of brass, can come along, even if it's only vicariously......

That roof looks damn scary.
Did you have some kind of spiky attachment to your shoes to avoid slipping, or did you find a way to take the 6th shot in this post that didn't involve walking on the tiles?

No spiky attachments. I'm not a real ninja. Just an urbex ninja.

While most people are working on breaking OUT of jail, your breaking into them. Thats just wonderful! haha

I cant express how much i LOVE that photo of the curved skywalk.

Why does all the relaxing and hanging out on roofs and doorways not seem safe with the amount of security and so on! LOL

Waiting for parts 2 and 3 :)

You have peaked my interest in this type of photography. This just rocks. I walk around San Francisco thinking... Oh I should get in there somehow. Haha When the police catch me im gonna tell them its your fault! !! HAH! To bad Im on the wrong side of the US to ever get a chance to join you :( Photography and danger is just in my blood.

If you can, resist urbex. Find something else to shoot.
This activity is terribly dangerous. You can die 100 different ways. And if you don't die, you can be horribly injured. And then go to jail to boot.

And?

Your talking to a girl who would do anything in the world to have been a firefighter.

So again. I ask... and?

You of all people should get it. :)

Anyway~ Thanks for the pics. The second best thing to doing it.

Oh now I'm jealous! I want to be there!
Great pics. It's such a shame that such a beautiful structure goes unused. Although it's quite a beauty in it's current shape.
