OK.. So two weeks ago I started a new strength training plan cause I find that just cardio isn't doing enough for me. I'm getting back in shape, but the weight wasn't coming off. In six months I had dropped 2 dress sizes and not lost a pound. So I'm gonna add strength training to my work out to see if I can increase my BMR

Your body is getting healthier, however, and you will be reducing your blood pressure without dropping the weight. After a while, however, my friends found that as their bodies get used to working out and begins to adjust, they start burning off more of the stubborn fat and more weight loss comes.
While weight-loss diets can cut the weight faster, you will put it right back on after you stop dieting, and diets do nowhere near as much to improve your health as weight training does.
