Okay, it has come to my attention that there are suprising amount of people, especially Jersey Shore locals, that don't know what bennies are. In my opinion, it should be illegal to live south of the Raritan River and NOT know what a benny is, but I guess this is just another failure on the part of the modern school systems ( Read more... )

Ian, my dear, you have failed to mention one prominent individual- the Benny Wife.

Young Benny Wife; n: Bleached hair with black roots, obviously fake tan skin (SKIN MUST BE 10 SHADES DARKER THAN HAIR), giant sunglasses (to protect their entire face from UV rays), clothes at least 2 sizes too small, nails almost as long as entire finger, cell phone constantly attached to ear, and ALWAYS the loudest one in the room.

Oh my goodness, half of the middle aged women in my area fit that description *perfectly*. And, yes, they are the most obnoxious things ever.

hey ian it`s ron. that live journal about the bennies was halarious and is so right. however, there is one thing that i found myself being a little disappointed about; '"you might be a benny" if you`ve ever said ''"down the shore."''' i say that all the time or at least i`ve been known to say that but i don`t know if i still do.

I wear sandals with socks sometimes...but I'm definitely no benny...in fact, I remember I asked you what a "benny" was about 2 summers ago..yep..I see 'em all the time at Great Adventure, oh what a sight.

If you can call the fucking entire area of new jersey that ISN'T the shore "north/west jersey", I have a right to call your part south jersey. It's southern of me, so why the hell would that be the wrong name for it?

I'm going to do all these things next time I go to the shore. GO DOWN THE SHORE.

I am not going to argue whether or not we live in SOuth Jersey but I will argue against your reasoning. Just because Delaware is south of NJ we don't call it "down south". Come up with better reasoning jackass.

we'd might as well call it down south. when states are basically only known for the food items they produce, it's a general rule that they're hicks.

maryland, for example, has crabcakes.
texas has toast and cows.
new jersey has a half of the state that smells like clams, and a half that smells like deciduous forest.

south jersey: the clam state

dude....just because you play the games and never win doesnt make you a benny. and i have one...you just have to know how to play the games...or flirt with the attendants to just give u a prize....

and if i don't live there anymore...and i go as a tourist...does that automatically make me a benny?? i can walk the walk and talk the talk...i just don't live there anymore....
