According to reliable internet sources today is German Beer Day, Lost Dog Awareness Day, English Language Day, Talk Like Shakespeare Day AND World Book Day. I never knew April 23 was so exciting, moreso even than making the beast with two backs, thou rump-fed ronyon! Since I don’t have any German Beer, my dog is not currently lost (and I’m quite ( Read more... )

Amusing but not too taxing on the noggin sounds like my kind of book. I'm gonna check her out.

Hey Imoh, I'd better warn you that some people really don't like the first few books in the series because the main character starts off seriously flawed and judgmental.. but I like her growth through the series and she has an amusing habit of frequently stumbling upon murder victims and provoking murderers to attack her.

Ah right. I almost never start a series at the beginning so I might be fine. But it's a good warning!

Imoh, I adore you as a person AND as a human being, but what the hell?! How can you not start a series at the beginning??? Don't you get confused by the character development and ongoing plot-points? Don't you need the backstory?? Isn't it all a baffling array of jibberish without the start???

My last book I read errm listened to while driving at work was Furiously Happy by Jenny something or other. She's got major depression, anxiety, RA and whatnot but a very quirky sense of humor. I think you might like it, if you can get into memoirs.

Having grown up with someone in the family suffering major depression and anxiety, reading about those issues is not something I usually like to do. But I had a bit of a google and a review perusal and it sounds very upbeat and entertaining (I read about her first work too, "Let's Pretend this Never Happened", which also sounds great!). When I'm next in the mood for a memoir I'm going to give this a go - thanks Angela!

I don't often like to read anything to do with mental illness either, because I get enough of that at work. This book does have some of that, but most of it is stories that aren't focused on that. I have her first book requested right now.

Ooh let me know if it's as good as it sounds. I really like the title of that first one.

You read the quality one and that's what's important (although I can't believe anyone wouldn't be blown away by 'Pirates Love Underpants' - put that on your future reading list :P).

Haha telling me that Sahara is based on one of his books is not selling me on him, Dave :P Still I'll try to overlook it and give your favourite author a go - I like a good Indiana Jones style romp. Thanks for the suggestion!
