Today the weirdest thing happened. I was walking out of my dorm building and I smelled a smell that I swear I haven't smelled since I was a kid, and it was so distinct. It was the faint smell of lake water mingled with stale cigarette smoke. It reminded me of when I was younger and I would go to my grandma's friend's lake house and her friends

I remember hearing stories about that lake...with the big alligators...or snakes? or maybe it wasn't even the same lake. that's the problem with bayou folk...too many stories about snakes.
anyways, that's what I'm afraid about with growing old. everything around me changing, but i'd still expect things to stay the same.
and it happens so gradually that one day you look around and realize you live someplace completely different and you have a body that isn't yours....scary.
