I've had so many awkward moments when two people changed their usernames at the same time and I spent weeks thinking that each person was the other.

That's one reason why I use a custom colour for every person on my flist - I might not immediately recognise the name, but I know who posts with that colour combination.

I hope that pingbacks for everyone makes them a lot more useful overall! I think it will. And notes is a good, solid feature that so far seems to be well thought out.

You can add them from the profile, and they show after the name with an asterisk and a tool tip, even if you loathe the contextual hover menu with all appropriate loathing.
