We've got some exciting updates this week, so sit tight and we'll get started. Of course, news would not be complete without a special gift from Frank. It appears that he neglected to celebrate birthdays this month. So, in the spirit of better late than never, please rip a zippy yippee if you were born in August, and Frank'll send you a ginger ( Read more... )

Yes, we are here! bluemeringue September 2 2010, 01:53:49 UTC
We are in the process of compiling your thousands of comments so we can provide detailed feedback in order to implement necessary changes. This has been keeping us very busy (and quiet). We understand and appreciate your wish for privacy. Most of us would not want our LiveJournal usernames, FO comments, etc., published on Facebook or Twitter either (to the extent we even use them). We hear you. We are doing our very best to respond.

In the meantime, we would love for you to vote on this poll posted by surrey_sucks.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to give us honest feedback.

So, you're going to edit the post, or make a new one, right? Because you know nobody will see a buried comment.

How about just rolling back all previous changes NOW until you get whatever feedback you need? After all, the feedback over the past several thousand posts has been pretty unanimous.

*seconds*

After all, the feedback over the past several thousand posts has been pretty unanimous.

Which is pretty rare around here. It's often split down the middle. (Practically) NO ONE wants these changes!

Yes this. 98 pages of comments... seems like it's time to get rid of the repost crud until an "opt out" is available. (Or better yet, make it opt in...) Sigh.

I haven't seen any, "In before wank" comments either. So it seems very few if any users think that the complaining here is wank.

Seriously, this is the LEAST amount of macros/wankery I've EVER seen in this many posts.

And the first time I've ever seen all the wildly different kinds of LJ communities united in NO.

Um, that wasn't a real LJ staffer. The poll in question is from another one of the mightily disgruntled.

er... Right? That had to be sarcasm... didn't it? why would they link to some random poll like that?

To pretend that LJ is listening to us.

I've since been informed that bluemeringue (sp? hope I got that right) is really, documentably LJ staff.

That just makes the whole thing boggling. Assuming it was sarcasm from a random user was sensible. This, this is just willful blindness I DON'T EVEN--

Something interesting that I found out (by looking at her LJ info): she can make LJ comments using her FB account or something, and she, under her FB name, voted in my poll. Guess what she voted? "AWFUL idea" and "Yes" to being concerned for her privacy.

Well, I'm not surprised that opinion isn't monolithic - a lot of LJ staff are unpaid volunteers, aren't they?

No, staff are actually employees of LiveJournal. Volunteers are just volunteers.

Ok, well. While it's certainly interesting that she voted against the idea in a random unofficial poll (and probably a bit *facepalm* that she did so with her staff account and not an alternate personal one), I don't think it's damning of her personally. Sounds to me like she got the unhappy task of posting a respose to all the negative outcry on a decision she may not have agreed with in the first place, and very possibly had nothing to do with enacting or developing (I don't know what her staff role is).
