We've got important updates for you this week. As promised, we've made significant changes to Facebook and Twitter Connect integration that respond to your privacy concerns. "Hey guys, you can sign up for LiveJournal with your Facebook account, it's easy."
"Hi everybody, if you want to want to write your own journal entries you can convert your account, plus you can continue to login with Facebook Connect."
"Oh yeah, LJ is totally better for writing and much better at privacy. Plus, the communities here are so much easier to use and read than groups over at Facebook."
etc... Letting them login here makes it easier to convince them to join up fully.

I'll miss TxtLJ. It was nifty whenever I was internetless, so I guess I'll just have to remember how to use the email thingy.

Since my service is also through Verizon and I, too, do not have a smart phone, I need to try and get this set up in place of TXTLJ. =/
And thanks for pointing this out. =D

Can't you just lose the pictures and the other non-newsy stuff and post only news-worthy things every week?
Just put them in comms of their own and leave this one for the srz bzns!
Please?

I will say I will kinda miss it. Although I seldom used it, I liked that I could use my unlimited texting feature on my phone plan to send something to my journal if something happened and I couldnt get to a computer. You should take note that not everyone has a smartphone, internet on their phone, or a data plan to send emails.

Does that mean if someone's opted into Cyrillic services they can crosspost comments from other people's locked entries, or only from their own entries?

That doesn't mean that I have to accept that a business I've given money to and supported over the last few years is now making a half-assed attempt to correct something that never should have been possible in the first place. LJ has never directly enabled crossposting of content from locked entries before, and it never should have been enabled in the first place. Yes, users will always have a way to crosspost, but LJ incorporating that fact into their very own code isn't something that I find acceptable. Their actions are completely separate from the decisions of my friends and readers.
