Why would you apologise? It doesn't hurt him, does it?

Well, it doesn't physically hurt him, no. But it is rude, and I didn't intend to walk... er... through him.

How do you know it's rude? Perhaps it was rude of him to be where you could walk into him.

But, Jack - he's a Professor, and maybe a little absent-minded okay, a LOT but... Oh, why am I listening to you?

I just need to buck up my mortification and go back and say sorry.

I agree with Jack. And since most of the time he forgets that he's dead, even if you did apologize he'd probably just be surprised you've managed to walk through him.

Well, see, that's my dilemma. I'm feeling bad for walking though him - and yet, I'm not sure if I should bring it up because I don't, y'know, want to remind him he is dead. It's a bit tactless, don't you think?

But if he doesn't remember - and wouldn't be that bothered about it if he did - then you have no reason to feel bad about it. It was an accident, right?

Well... Yes, it was.

Oooh, I would be embarrassed too. I don't think he'll mind too much, though, whether you apologise or not. So if it will make you feel better, go apologise. At worse he can only be snippy, and then that would put him in the wrong as you'd done all you could have realistically be expected to do in the circumstances. I mean, people bump into each other, don't they? If he had been solid you'd have bumped into him and then apologised, it's just because he's not that you didn't. In any case, it is as much his fault that he didn't get out of your way as you didn't get out of his so you don't have anything to worry about.

Oh at last! Advice that I can follow! Thanks Barney, that was really helpful. Are you sure he won't mind me pointing out that he's dead though? I saw the Gryffindor Ghost, whatshisname, Sir Something Pompous Or The Other Nearly-Headless Nick, get high-horsed over the matter. And, heavens, you do NOT want to know what Moaning Myrtle does.

I don't know, I don't think Binns is that bothered about it, not like Nearly-Headless-Nick.

... no I do. I do want to know what Moaning Myrtle does.

Thank you, Lucy.

The flowers were from my cousin likely on the advice of Sarah Kim. I must say I am very wary of that particular alliance. and I am very sure she expected me to do so. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she had a bet going with someone on how long it would take me to do so.

Happy Birthday.

If you ever want to play some one-on-one I'd let you win as a birthday gift. But only once, and certainly not during a match.

Thank you.

Very generous of you - but I'd rather you not let me win. There's no real pleasure in that sort of a match.

I quite agree actually, but I felt that merely offering to play Quidditch wasn't a very good gift. The offer still stands though.

Sure, Lu. What time?

And don't worry about Binns too much. He probably didn't notice.

We have a free after Ancient Runes, right? How about then?

Oh, I just went and said sorry just then. But I said sorry for bumping into him as opposed to walking into him, which I suppose is a bit... more tactful, perhaps?

Sounds great. I could use a pick me up after Ancient Runes. Though watching Altair glower at Babbling IS fun.

That was very well done. I wouldn't have thought of it.

Speak for yourself, I think he's being a little unreasonable.

Aw, thanks, Cecy.
