I believe getting an 8.25 in that bloody list and getting all those compliments from those two bints is the most insulting thing ever. But then again, it could be worse, as I'm sure Montague and Warrington might be even more offended than I am.

And I shall KILL those tarts for what they say about Fawcett!

My condolences, mate. Truly. At least Fawcett is a better witch than those two put together though, yeah?

Look on the bright side. Put together we average just above a "5."

I know I'm not the prettiest girl out there, but I would have thought I'd be at least a "4." My rating is Croyle-standard.

Is he really that much better-looking than me?

That's not so bad, I suppose, but I think I'd be happier with a lower rating. Maybe if I let them know what I think of them they'll lower my rating.

Private to Fawcett:
I'll bloody kill them. How dare they say those things about you?

I don't think that will do the trick. Cassius makes his distaste of Travers heard enough, and look at his rating. I think they've made up their minds what they think of you and nothing you say or do will make any difference.

Private to Stebbins: I'm just stunned. I wouldn't have expected to get a high rating, but they seemed to have gone out of their way to be nasty.

Yeah, you're probably right. Still, I've got half a mind to show them exactly what I think; it might not help my rating, but it will make me feel better.

Private to Fawcett: It's pure spite. You're a million times better than either of them will ever be, in every way, and that pisses them off.

They were really not very nice about some very nice people. I don't think I'd like to be highly rated by them either.

I have the feeling most of their ratings were made for reasons that had nothing to do with their niceness or even their looks. Cecy is right - anyone female seems to be a threat, especially those who were unfortunate to have accomplished things they will never be able to (like playing Quidditch, getting good marks or being so intelligent and responsible that Dumbledore had to make them Head Girl or - Merlin forbid - being prettier than they will ever be), which is... any girl in Hogwarts, really. And it seems being a Gryffindor will immediately make a person scum of the earth.
As for those of us who did get high ratings (all of them male, if you look carefully) I have the feeling looks did count but were not the main reason for being picked.

I think you are probably right about that. I think they also have a bizarre prejudice towards quiet people.

It's that thing about envy again, in a way. Being loud and obnoxious, they'll complain about those who are their total opposite.
