Just fantastic. They're both so wonderfully, realistically drawn. The end's lovely, but I like the working-through-it-stuff the best. So much complicated material handled so clearly and so well. Really enjoyed, thank you for writing it. (Also here via princessofg.)

Thank you! I figure that there are so many things Sam would have to deal with to make a relationship with Jack work out, and their jobs and histories are just first on the list. It won't be easy, and I'm glad the nuance of everything came through here.

Um, wow! Thank you! I think that is possibly one of the highest compliments you could pay, because I set out to write this story in a way that would really capture these characters realistically, that would acknowledge their history and patterns and habits without saying that those things would negate the relationship they have. So I'm glad that succeeded for you!

And yes, as a writer I always worry that I'm telling the reader what to think--and there are certainly points throughout this story where I wonder, "But will they get what I'm trying to say?!" I'm glad you were able to see the nuance without that--whew!
