princessofg hollers and we all come swarming....

I'm an equal opportunity reader, but I ambled into SG-1 fandom via the slashers, and I'm still kind of clueless about how to find the really great het. I'm so very glad PoG recced this, because it's absolutely beautiful -- just the kind of knotty, adult relationship I like best to explore. I love your quiet, perceptive Jack, and the way you write the bonds between the rest of the team. And your Sam is a glory.

Hey, I'm not going to complain about the swarm! It's quite lovely, actually! :)

And I'm so glad you liked this--these people must have a complex relationship, whether it's the one I depict here or something entirely different, if only because they have so much history, shared and otherwise. So pleased that it worked for you! Thank you! :)

Also, your icon is a hoot!

I finished reading this with goosebumps, it's just so perfect. Beautiful writing, flawlessly in character, such an interesting insight into Sam's thought processes and a way with dealing with the complexities of their relationship that just fits. This should be canon. It COULD be canon. I can't even highlight the bits I loved most because it would just be copying and pasting the whole story in it's entirety. I shall now proceed to rec it to everyone I know! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!

Well, I would start squealing like the goofy shipper I am if anything like this was shown on screen to be canon . . . ;)

But thank you very much for your kind words. I'm so glad this vision of these characters at this moment worked for you! And I always appreciate a rec!

Absolutely fantastic... what an excellent glimpse at what Sam and Jack together looks like. I love Sam's discomfort with relationships, her awkwardness, and how Jack is the one who's more practiced at the whole thing (which is true). And her struggle to include him in her life, to make him an actual consideration on where she's going versus her fear of relapsing into their old command relationship ( ... )

I think that someone like Sam could easily understand why she was displaced from command of SG-1 or Atlantis, but that it would really bother her. She's clearly ambitious, clearly brilliant, and has probably worked very hard to succeed--to have that taken away, in whatever way and despite whatever compensation she gets in return, has to hurt a little. And so I wanted to explore how that would work for her, what would bug her about it--and so I'm really glad that part of the story worked for you!

And yeah, these are also clearly two people who aren't thirty anymore--they don't look thirty, certainly (and I adore RDA, but the man hasn't aged that well), nor are they going to act it. I wanted to see who these characters are now, after so many years of history and changes, and how they could make something between them work--because I think it can, but I don't think it would be easy.

what a great way to see Sam Carter off

Thank you!

If I was Sam, I would've quit and taken over the universe. Or my own planet. She totally could. I mean, SG-1 was bad enough, and then losing Atlantis? Hmmph.

I remember when I first started watching the show and I saw recent pictures of him and I was surprised at how much he had changed in a few short years. I read some interview where he blamed his weight gain on the peanut butter Puffin cereal, which he is addicted to, apparently. I think AT has aged very ( ... )

If I was Sam, I would completely take over the universe? I mean, why not? And use my powers for good, of course. Most of the time! ;)

AT has aged very gracefully, although I think she looks better as a blonde than a brunette.

Yes, on both counts. A friend of mine recently saw a picture of AT at AT3, with dark hair and not in character, and said she looked like a cross between Sally Field and Diane Feinstein. It's gotta be the hair, because AT is *gorgeous.*

Oh, bad fanfic... you bend human anatomy to your will.

Um, OW. But the sad thing is, we just keep reading . . . ::grin::

Gah! That was *exceptional*. Both Sam and Jack are so expertly, realistically portrayed here. And I am awed by your ability to show so well the power that each of them has over each other, in perfect balance with the deep love that they share. It's simply a beautiful fic.

*fangirls you endlessly*

And oh, did I love this line: every touch is a gesture of thanks for coming home alive to him

*blushes* Thank you! They're such a complex pair, these two, and they probably have to walk a very fine line to make their relationship work. So much history, so many complications, and yet so much love. I'm so very glad this worked for you! :)

oh wow. I LOVED this. I love your Sam who tries to break the choices down with the scientific method and doesn't quite know how to deal with her relationship. I love it! and your jack had the perfect responses to her questions and way too much thinking. Excellent work!
