Oh my, so bittersweet and wonderful. I love how she turns to Bregman after the sadly realistic turn of trying to deal with the media herself.

And yay. Sam will fill General Hammond's shiny shoes quite well.

The language throughout is so sharp and powerful and you capture their maturity and their sameness so well. I think this is my favorite line:

"General Carter" It took several years, but she no longer thinks first of her father when she hears that phrase.

Aw, thank you. I do think Sam will do a great job filling in for General Hammond (and Generals O'Neill and Landry, too!), and I like the idea that she'll find her own solutions to the unique challenges she'll face.

And I'm glad you think I captured the ways in which SG-1 has grown up--but in all the ways they're still the same family they always have been. :)

Oh, this is really lovely. Actually, I was just recently watching some bits and snippets of the very end of The West Wing, and your Sam here has a similar kind of feeling as CJ does there, at times - quieter, but in that sense that still waters run deep, so to speak, and she's seen so very much that she has simply had to make her peace with the universe. Beautiful extension of the evolution of Sam's character that we saw over the course of SG-1/SGA. And I love how you brought Bregman and his documentary back in as well. Wonderful as always. :)

You know, I like this characterization a lot, and I love that you are taking it away from this story. I do think that Sam will land there--having seen it all, older, and wiser, but still our Sam: kind of bad with people, in love with science and space, and treasuring the moments she gets with her family.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story! :)
