Yellow rose of Texas clad in black...

I'm ready for the cold to go away. The "feels like" temp was in the negatives for the past 4 days. I was planning to go to a Lunar Eclipse party on Sunday night, but with the temps being what they were I chose to stay in, bundle up under some blankets, and watch a stream of it while I gamed. I'm at a high risk for frostbite, so going out seemed ( Read more... )

Hm... A rain dance brings rain. I wonder if there is a spring dance to bring spring!

It's such a great game! I have to say that I think one of my favorite aspects was Aloy. She has such a unique personality for a video game character, and felt so much more realistic than most other game characters. On top of that, the world is huge and there is quite a bit to explore, do, and collect. I am excited to see what new things were added in the Frozen Wilds DLC.

Plus, the game has robo-dinos. I love robots and I love dinosaurs. From the very first mention of them I was hooked!

I have to say that I didn't really like Wuthering Heights. i did like Jane Eyre though so it's not all of the Bronte's that I have an issue with!

Wuthering Heights just feels so... dry. I haven't read Jane Eyre yet, though. I will have to add that to the book club's list of choices!

We periodically checked out the eclipse but only stayed out for a few minutes at most per session. It was also cripplingly cold here. I think we went out to see it start, then about half-way, then almost full, the start of the full eclipse, and finally a mostly red moon. It was quite nice and I was happy that we could easily see it from our backyard since it was WAY TOO COLD to stay out for any extended length of time.

I still haven't played Horizon: Zero Dawn yet! I keep hoping that someone will give it to me as a present since it's on my list, but I probably should just go and buy it myself. But I keep putting it off since I feel like I have so many games that I (or my wife) own that I can play.

And I always thought it'd be super cool to be in a book club (maybe "cool" isn't the right word). But I think I'm very particular about what I like to read. So group selection of books would be bad for me which is probably why a book club sounds nice but I don't think it'd actually work for me. I'd not be a fan of reading Wuthering

It's crazy how cold it got! I mean, I guess not so crazy because it's mid-January, after all, but still. My area usually goes about mid-20s at the lowest, so single-digits was a very unpleasant surprise.

If it comes on a sale I highly suggest picking it up. That way you have it ready when you are!

I like being able to talk to people about books I'm reading, which is the appeal of a book club for me. Down side is definitely the book selection. For our group I am keeping our choices to books in the public domain, which means a lot of the older classics. That can often mean drier stories, unfortunately, but being able to chat with others about it helps counter that.
