Sometimes I forget that there is a war going on in Lebanon, in Iraq, in Palestine, and in many places. I forget that these things don't have to happen. People don't have to die; families don't have to move away from theri homes.
Here is an excerpt from a volunteer in Lebanon in a letter written to her friend:

In light of Isreal's current aggressive attacks and of a friend's recent trip to Syria and Jordan, I thought I might post up these maps (courtesy of the CIA). Did you know where these countries are? I guess we shouldn't have been so surprised that there was a 500,000 strong march in LA, but thlu, who lives in LA, says that you'd be luck y if you can get 10,000 people to an anti-war march. So 500,000 is a BIG suprise, but it's probably just a small example of what obvious suppression can lead to: people organized and resist.

Someone told me that year of the dog, or my year, is going to be challenging, but I didn't know that this would mean right away. We got into a car accident this morning on the way going to work.
