Writing is my personal vent- some people have a drink in the evening, some like to talk but if something inspires me or worries me, I write.  It's tricky at the moment as Matt is working lates and will be for the foreseeable future so getting time when Harvey is quiet and I have a minute isn't always easy.  However that doesn't stop my fingers from ( Read more... )

I am delighted with how Harvey is doing with his eating.  I had low expectations because I know how difficult it is for such a young baby to learn how to feed himself but he is just amazing.  Fruit, breads, meats, loaded spoons...everything makes the mouth.  Some things are tricky to hold especially beetroot, banana and lychee but Harvey still ( Read more... )

There's not been a day so far when I have doubted our choice to allow baby to self feed.  However, I realise that many babies take a long time to pick up foods and to start actually eating them but Harvey put the food to his mouth straight away and his nappies changed the following day so I knew he was eating it.  I really do enjoy meal times.  I ( Read more... )

Yesterday and today I have seen a definite improvement in Harvey's eating skills!  Usually he sucks on a piece of food and if a larger bit breaks off and ends up in his mouth he pushes it out with his tongue.  Yesterday I noticed that the food was disappearing as if by magic!  It wasn't being pushed out onto his bib but definitely wasn't on the ( Read more... )

Baby has been off colour all day and not himself.  It's always upsetting when we have days like this because it's all guess work.  I really have no idea if it's those gums that are sore, the ear that hurts or something entirely unrelated but since I got back from Under 2s group, Harvey has had two very long crying sessions and that is so unlike him ( Read more... )

For an easy lunch today I served breadsticks, humous, strawberries and orange.  I dipped the breadstick into the humous and handed it to baby.  He took it and gave it a good knawing, pulling a slight face when the humous texture went onto his tongue.  His spat most of it out...I imagine like a baby being given puree for the first time.  He crunched ( Read more... )
